Academics

Beacon Christian Academy offers several programs to meet the needs of families on the Outer Banks.

We use the Abeka curriculum for P4 through 5th grade. The Abeka program uses the spiral teaching method which focuses on mastery, not memorization.  It forms a bridge to new topics, promoting flexible and critical thinking skills for all ages. Abeka is known for its successful early reading program.  It is an intensive phonics approach in which the children learn letter names, sounds, blends and words at an early age.  Every subject in Abeka is centered around God's word.  Our students will be able to apply biblical truths from God's word to their own lives and demonstrate knowledge of the doctrines of the Bible.

Our school year runs from September to May each year.

  • P4 Program
  • Elementary Grades  - Kindergarten through 5th
  • Aftercare Program
  • Summer Program

In each of our classes, we follow a developmentally age appropriate scope and sequence.  We continually reassess the child's personal needs and strive to implement personalized teaching strategies.

We do not supply food for any of our programs.  Parents must pack their children's snacks, drinks and lunches each day.

Our elementary students have specialty classes such as: PE, Music, Art and Computers.

Aftercare

In order to participate in our aftercare program, the students must be enrolled in our school.  The aftercare program starts after the end of the school day and runs until 5:30pm.  The students play, work on homework, have snacks and participate in other activities.
